The fire first broke out this afternoon in a wooded area near Moshav Kesalon, in the Judean Hills. Initial reports from i24NEWS at 16:50 Jerusalem described a spreading brush fire. Within minutes, N12 reported that the fire was intensifying and threatening nearby homes. Firefighting aircraft were dispatched, and by the same time, approximately 30 crews and six aircraft were deployed. Authorities evacuated the first row of homes in Kesalon, and Route 395 was closed to traffic. Jerusalem Border Police evacuated additional residents as the fire continued to spread. All updates were published at 16:50 Jerusalem, reflecting the rapid sequence of events. Now, at 17:24 Jerusalem, firefighters have gained control.
