A Flydubai aircraft is currently entering Israeli airspace as of Wednesday evening, The Zioneer reports. The flight's origin and purpose have not been specified. The development comes hours after the attempted terror attack on Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv earlier today.
The Zioneer's coverage of the incident, beginning at 14:29 Jerusalem time, traced the sequence: an Omani co-pilot stabbed the captain, seized controls, and dropped the aircraft nearly 20,000 feet before passengers and crew forced their way into the cockpit and subdued him. The plane made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the attacker intended to crash the aircraft, and Defense Minister Israel Katz officially declared it an attempted terror attack. A joint inquiry involving the Shin Bet, Mossad, IDF, and Ministry of Transportation was opened, as The Zioneer reported.
Earlier Wednesday, The Zioneer reported at 16:40 Jerusalem that a second Flydubai aircraft had been dispatched to Tabuk to bring the Israeli passengers from flight FZ1073 back to Israel. The rescue operation followed the emergency landing and the grounding of the original aircraft.
It is not yet clear whether the aircraft now entering Israeli airspace is that rescue flight returning passengers or a separate scheduled service. Its origin, flight number, and destination remain undisclosed.
