01 · THE DISPATCH

A group of Bratslav Hasidic men fleeing a police traffic stop drove into the Palestinian village of Mukhmas in the Binyamin region overnight, triggering a major IDF search. The IDF activated a kidnapping protocol around 07:30 Thursday, deploying helicopters and special units after contact with the group was lost. The alert was downgraded after two occupants were located in Jerusalem, and by 07:30 the IDF confirmed all had exited the village on their own. Police later detained several Israeli suspects for questioning.

Initial reports at 07:17 described a major “Mivchan Emet” kidnapping event after a vehicle carrying about nine Israelis was found empty and damaged in Mukhmas, with an Apache helicopter deployed for searches. At 07:30 the IDF first confirmed a search for Israelis who lost contact; within minutes, versions reported that the vehicle had entered the village during a police chase after a severe traffic violation. By 07:30, two occupants were located in Jerusalem and refused to cooperate, extending the search, and the abduction fear was officially lifted. At 09:14 police confirmed they had detained several Israeli suspects.

As The Zioneer reported earlier (07:17, 07:31), the vehicle was chased after a serious traffic offense on Route 60 near Sha'ar Binyamin, with the group fleeing into the village and being attacked by residents. The incident highlights tensions between segments of the Haredi community and law enforcement over draft evasion, as the men reportedly preferred entering a hostile area to being arrested for draft dodging.

No Palestinian suspects have been reported arrested for the attack. The police investigation is ongoing, and some suspects remain in custody.
