Four people who were exposed to the animal have already received preventive rabies treatment. The ministry urged anyone who had contact with the infected calf or with stray animals in the area between July 17-31 to urgently contact the local health bureau.
This is the second rabies case in the Golan region reported by the ministry in recent weeks. As The Zioneer reported on August 4, a rabies-infected calf was previously identified in Ma'ale Gamla, also in the Golan, with four people treated. The ministry has issued multiple rabies warnings across northern Israel this summer, including cases involving jackals near the Sea of Galilee, a wolf in Kiryat Shmona, and a badger near Ayelet HaShahar.
