TL;DR

Hezbollah issued a sharp condemnation of the Lebanese government delegation currently conducting direct talks in Washington, accusing it of submitting to US dictates that harm Lebanese sovereignty and advance a deal with Israel, according to the group’s statement. The organization warned that negotiations serve US and Israeli interests, violate the Lebanese constitution, and undermine its own armed efforts.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Hezbollah on Sunday issued a forceful condemnation of the Lebanese government's ongoing direct negotiations with the United States in Washington, accusing the delegation of capitulating to American demands that compromise Lebanon's sovereignty and move the country closer to an agreement with Israel.

The statement, attributed to the organization, said the talks undermine the constitution, serve US and Israeli interests, and disrupt Hezbollah's armed activities on the ground — which the group frames as 'resistance.' Hezbollah asserted that nothing good can emerge from the negotiations and described the government's participation as surrender.

The condemnation continues a pattern of Hezbollah opposition to the Washington-mediated track. As The Zioneer reported on June 5, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem formally rejected a ceasefire and dismissed the Lebanese participants in the talks as unrepresentative. Earlier this week, Hezbollah MP Fiadsaid made clear that the group would accept no truce as long as Israeli 'aggression' continues.

The organization's latest broadside comes as analyst Yossi Yehoshua assessed over the weekend that Iran is using Hezbollah to pressure the IDF in southern Lebanon while squeezing negotiations with the US. The group has also officially endorsed the reported US-Iran agreement, adding to the diplomatic complexity.
