The rebellion began on Thursday, July 30, when soldiers from the Sabra battalion left the base after the battalion commander removed signs related to unit traditions. The Givati Brigade commander, Col. Netanel Shmaka, condemned the incident as 'a serious event with no place in the IDF.' The IDF said on Friday that the soldiers who led the event will be tried before the brigade commander and handled according to the severity of their actions. The update brings the total returnees to nearly all who had left the base, with only one soldier still unaccounted for.
