This elimination follows a series of IDF and Shin Bet operations targeting Oct. 7 infiltrators who have since attempted to rebuild terror capabilities. As The Zioneer reported on June 29, the IDF and Shin Bet confirmed the elimination of Zaher Abu Salem, a PIJ operative who took part in the kidnapping of Israeli civilians. On July 9, the IDF eliminated Wahid Abu Salam, a former company commander who held hostages in southern Gaza. Earlier, on June 7, the IDF eliminated Sakr Abu Karim, a Hamas Nukhba commander who led the infiltration into the Kisufim area.
The IDF has characterized these operations as part of a systematic effort by the Southern Command and the Shin Bet to dismantle the leadership and operational cadres of Hamas and PIJ involved in the October 7 attacks. The military has stated that the operations are conducted within the framework of the ceasefire, which allows for the removal of immediate threats to Israeli forces and civilians.
