01 · THE DISPATCH

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed Thursday it eliminated Adam Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Hadid, a commander in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad's weapons-production array, in a precise strike in the Khan Younis area. According to the military, the strike took place two days ago, on Tuesday, June 23.

The identification of Abu Hadid marks the culmination of a thread The Zioneer has tracked since Tuesday. That day, at 15:48 Jerusalem, initial reports from Al Jazeera noted an airstrike on a tent in Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, killing one. Within a minute, Gazan sources named the killed operative as Adam Abu Hadaid, a PIJ operative. By the same minute, another thread item identified him as Adam Abu Huda'id, still citing only Gazan reporting. The IDF subsequently named him as Adam Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Hadid, a commander in the PIJ's weapons-production array, adding the military's characterization of his threat level.

As The Zioneer reported previously, IDF operations against PIJ leadership in Khan Younis date back to at least early June, including the elimination of four PIJ commanders in western Gaza City on June 7, and the killing of Hamas battalion commander Muhammad al-Namrouti in a drone strike on June 13.

The IDF described Abu Hadid as an immediate threat, stating that the infrastructure under his leadership was engaged in attempting to manufacture weapons for attacks against Israeli troops and civilians. The military said the strike was precise and that Southern Command troops remain deployed in the area under the terms of the current agreement.
