The IDF said Thursday it destroyed two underground Hezbollah routes in the village of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon, each about 200 meters long and 20 meters deep, containing living quarters and three launch shafts aimed at Israel. Troops also uncovered a weapons cache with mortars and RPGs, and eliminated an armed terrorist near one of the routes last week, the military added.
Thursday's announcement provides additional details on the destruction of two underground routes in Majdal Zoun, first reported by The Zioneer at 17:14. The IDF said the tunnels were 20 meters deep and contained living quarters and three launch shafts aimed at Israel, along with dozens of weapons. Troops from Brigade Combat Team 551 and Yahalom special forces, operating under Division 91, also located a weapons cache with mortars, launchers, and RPG rockets. During the past week, the brigade eliminated an armed terrorist near one of the routes, the military added.
The operation is part of a sustained IDF campaign to dismantle Hezbollah's underground infrastructure in southern Lebanon. As The Zioneer has reported, the military has uncovered and destroyed multiple tunnel complexes in Majdal Zoun since late June, including a drone 'airfield' and a strategic facility built with Iranian technology. The village, located in the security zone north of the border, was found to be heavily fortified with terror infrastructure.
The IDF continues to operate in the area to remove threats to Israeli communities.
