Majdal Zoun is a strategically positioned village in the western sector of southern Lebanon, located approximately 6 kilometers north of the Israeli border communities of Adamit and Arab al-Aramsha. Historically a stronghold for Hezbollah infrastructure in the western Tyre district, the village emerged as a critical objective during the IDF's expanded ground maneuvers in mid-2026. The area is characterized by rugged terrain that Hezbollah utilized for years to establish launch sites and observation posts overlooking northern Israel.

In June 2026, the village saw a significant escalation in combat. Following a series of targeted airstrikes and artillery preparation, IDF ground forces advanced from the direction of Shema and the Tayr Harfa junction. Initial reports from Lebanese sources and Hezbollah media indicated clashes on the outskirts of the village, but by mid-June, the situation transitioned into a full-scale capture. Hezbollah formally acknowledged in an overnight statement that Israeli forces had moved beyond the outskirts and established a presence inside the village itself, marking a significant loss of territory for the organization in this sector.

Following the capture, reports from the Lebanese National News Agency indicated that the IDF began systematic operations to neutralize terror infrastructure within the village, including the booby-trapping and demolition of buildings used by Hezbollah. These actions are part of a broader strategy to dismantle the "first line" of villages used by the Radwan Force and other Hezbollah units to threaten Israeli sovereign territory. The capture of Majdal Zoun represents a deepening of the IDF's buffer zone operations, aimed at preventing the group from maintaining direct lines of sight and fire into the Western Galilee.
