The IDF eliminated several Hezbollah operatives armed with RPGs near Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, after Egoz unit troops identified them operating near the security zone yesterday. The air force struck the cell and the building they were using. In a separate engagement in the same area, the IDF's Multidimensional Unit destroyed a Hezbollah launcher that posed a threat to Israeli forces.
The IDF reported Sunday morning that Egoz reconnaissance troops, operating under the 36th Division, identified armed Hezbollah operatives with RPGs in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon on Saturday, just outside the security zone where Israeli forces are deployed. The air force was directed to the scene and struck the cell and the building from which they were operating, killing them. In a separate strike in the same region, the Multidimensional Unit destroyed a Hezbollah rocket launcher that was identified as a threat.
The military said the operations were conducted to remove dangers to its forces operating in southern Lebanon. Video footage released by the IDF shows the initial identification of the RPG-armed operatives and the subsequent strike.
This is the latest in a series of Israeli operations targeting Hezbollah fighters and assets near the border zone, days after similar engagements at the Ali al-Taher ridge and other locations in southern Lebanon. The IDF reiterated that it will not allow Hezbollah to threaten Israeli civilians or troops.
