The right-wing Im Tirzu organization filed a petition Wednesday to the High Court of Justice demanding that Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara investigate illegal wiretapping allegedly carried out to thwart the appointment of Rabbi David Zini. The group says it has been contacting the attorney general since October 2025, together with the Lavi organization, without response.
Im Tirzu, a right-wing advocacy organization, announced Wednesday that it has filed a petition to the High Court of Justice demanding that Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara investigate alleged illegal wiretapping designed to thwart the appointment of Rabbi David Zini to a position in the state rabbinate or other public role. The group stated that it had been contacting the attorney general since October 2025, together with the Lavi organization, without receiving a response.
The petition is the latest in a series of legal and political battles surrounding Rabbi Zini's appointment. As The Zioneer previously reported, the High Court ruled in July 2025 that Zini was entitled to see the full list of petitioners who had filed a case against him. However, according to journalist Avishai Grinzaig, as of April 2026 the list had still not been delivered, in what critics described as a violation of the court order.
The new petition accuses Baharav-Miara of ignoring repeated requests to investigate the wiretapping allegations. The group framed the move as part of a broader struggle against what it calls 'one law for officials and another for citizens.' The petition was filed Wednesday morning, according to the announcement.
