TL;DR

Iran's Foreign Ministry said Friday it is arranging contacts to hold a meeting in the coming days, adding that the MOU with the United States has been signed digitally and that today's planned meeting in Switzerland is no longer urgent. The ministry tied the pace of talks on a final agreement to implementation of conditions already set in the MOU.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Iran's Foreign Ministry updated the status of talks with the United States in a statement reported on Friday afternoon. The ministry confirmed that the MOU was signed digitally, making today's previously planned in-person meeting in Switzerland no longer urgent. Contacts are underway for a meeting 'in the coming days,' according to the statement.

As The Zioneer reported at 17:23, the ministry was already preparing contacts for talks. The new detail is the confirmation of digital signing, which the ministry says removes the urgency of a face-to-face meeting. The pace of negotiations on a final agreement, the ministry added, depends on implementation of the conditions outlined in the MOU.

The statement follows over a week of conflicting signals. On June 12, Iran said the talks were at an advanced stage and most points agreed. On June 15, a Geneva meeting was announced to set negotiation terms, but that meeting was subsequently described as no longer urgent. The final review of the agreement text was reported underway as of June 11. The MOU's contents have not been published.
