Iranian sources report fresh strikes hit telecom tower near Sirik, southern Iran

TL;DR

Iranian sources report multiple hits on a telecommunications tower near the city of Sirik in southern Iran, according to local reports. The source and extent of damage are not yet confirmed. This follows a similar report about a strike at the same location less than an hour earlier, which The Zioneer tracked as a US strike.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Iranian sources are reporting fresh multiple hits on a telecommunications tower near the coastal city of Sirik in southern Iran, according to local reports circulating in Persian-language media. The reports do not specify the source of the strikes or the extent of damage. This is the second report of an attack on the same tower within the past hour: at 00:33 Jerusalem, The Zioneer published initial reports that a US strike had hit the tower near the town of Taheruyi, Sirik, citing unverified accounts of five separate attacks across Iran. The current reports may refer to a follow-up strike or a consolidation of earlier damage assessments. No official Iranian confirmation has been issued, and independent verification is pending.

Earlier tonight, at 00:28 Jerusalem, Iranian state television confirmed explosions in Sedik, southern Iran — the same region — as part of a wave of blasts. The current Sirik tower reports add to a pattern the desk has tracked over recent weeks: on Thu Jun 11, 15:41 Jerusalem a second explosion was reported near Sirik port a day after a US strike; and on Thu Jun 11, 19:58 Jerusalem a fishing vessel was reported struck from the air off Sirik's coast. Initial reports in those cases were unverified; some later received partial state-media confirmation. The thread has evolved from single-channel claims to corroboration by multiple Persian-language outlets, though formal on-record confirmation remains limited.

As The Zioneer reported on Wed Jun 10, 06:37 Jerusalem, communications and command-and-control facilities were among the targets struck in US operations against Iranian infrastructure. The Sirik tower, if confirmed as a telecom facility, would align with that reported target set. Separately, on Tue Jun 23, 01:17 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported internet, mobile, power, and water disruptions across Iran — a background context for potential cascading effects of strikes on communications nodes.

What remains open: whether tonight's reports describe a new strike or are the same event as the 00:33 strike being reported with a delay, and whether the tower's damage is isolated or part of a broader coordinated wave. No official Iranian source has publicly addressed either incident at this hour.
