01 · THE DISPATCH

The Health Ministry announced early Saturday morning that a person who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo is suspected of having contracted the Ebola virus and has been placed in isolation. The ministry did not specify which hospital is treating the patient or provide details about his condition.

This is the third suspected Ebola case in Israel within a week. On Friday night, a patient who returned from abroad was isolated at Rambam Hospital, and late Saturday night a second suspected case was reported — also at Rambam. All three cases remain under investigation, with no confirmed infections yet.

The ministry has previously warned against non-essential travel to Uganda and the DRC, and instructed returning travelers with fever or unusual symptoms within 21 days to self-isolate and contact health authorities. No official confirmation of Ebola has been issued for any of the recent cases.
