The powerful quake, centered in the Pacific-coast Chocó department near San José del Palmar, struck at around 15:43 Jerusalem time Monday, according to initial reports covered by The Zioneer. The tremor, lasting two to four minutes, caused heavy structural damage in the regional capital Quibdó and in the cities of Manizales, Pereira, Armenia and Cali. Chocó Gov. Nubia Córdoba reported injuries and significant damage; no deaths have been confirmed so far by authorities. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar offered Israeli assistance to Colombia, stating that Israel is prepared to help as needed.
