The report follows the earlier announcement that MK Yuli Edelstein is expected to step down, and the two departures would free up two slots on the Likud list.
At 15:59 Jerusalem, N12's Dafna Liel reported that Edelstein was expected to resign after aligning with former MK Gilad Erdan. The same report noted that Tzachi Hanegbi, who was next in line on the Likud list, left the list when appointed head of the National Security Council, making Tadmor the next candidate. Tadmor is also running in the Likud primaries and may not be eligible for party funding.
The resignations come amid a broader Likud internal restructuring. As The Zioneer reported on August 4, a Likud court ruling effectively forced many sitting MKs to choose between their current seats and running in the upcoming primaries, with at least 20 MKs expected to be ejected from the list. The party has also been grappling with internal friction over candidate selection methods.
The resignations have not yet been formally submitted. It is unclear when Illouz and Edelstein will step down. Tadmor's eligibility for party funding also remains pending.
