01 · THE DISPATCH

The fatal bus accident in Modi'in Illit on Thursday afternoon has claimed the life of a 7-year-old boy, identified as Moshe (Moishe Glinsky). As The Zioneer reported earlier, initial reports gave the victim's age as 8, but subsequent reports corrected the age to 7 and named the victim as Moishe Glinsky, a student at a local cheder. The boy was struck by a bus while walking home from school. Magen David Adom paramedics declared his death at the scene. Police have opened an investigation, and the bus driver is being questioned. The incident has prompted an outpouring of grief in the ultra-Orthodox community. This is the third fatal bus accident involving a young child in Israeli settlements and ultra-Orthodox cities in recent weeks, as previously reported by The Zioneer.

Earlier on Thursday, at 12:16 Jerusalem, The Zioneer first reported that an 8-year-old boy had been critically injured in the accident, then that he had been pronounced dead. Subsequent updates at the same timestamp corrected the victim's age to 7 and identified the location as Rehov Rabbi Akiba. At 13:08 Jerusalem, a bulletin confirmed the death of an 8-year-old boy, but by 14:23 Jerusalem, the desk reported the victim's full name and age as Moishe Glinsky, 7. The identification was thus finalized over the course of about two hours.

As The Zioneer reported on Monday, June 15, 2026, a 6-year-old boy, Daniel Klapholz, was killed in a bus accident in the settlement of Carmei Tzur. The Zioneer also reported on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, that a Jerusalem bus driver died of cardiac arrest after confronting unruly youths. These are separate incidents, but they underscore a recent string of fatal road accidents involving children and buses.

The circumstances of Thursday's accident remain under investigation. Police have not yet released details on what caused the bus to strike the child, or whether the driver will face charges. Witness accounts and footage from the scene are still being gathered.
