Bakher Nasserat, 19, was shot dead and a 20-year-old man was seriously wounded in Taibeh early Sunday morning, Israeli police said. The attack is believed to stem from an ongoing family feud; a suspect is on the run.
Police have identified the victim of Sunday's early-morning shooting in Taibeh as 19-year-old Bakher Nasserat, who was fatally shot shortly after family members returned from a wedding. A second man in his 20s was seriously wounded and evacuated to a hospital. The attack, believed to stem from a long-running feud within the extended Nasserat family, had seen a recent period of calm, police said.
Sunday's chain of reports began at 01:45 Jerusalem, when Channel 12 first reported that a 20-year-old had died and another man of the same age was seriously wounded. By 03:35 Jerusalem, police confirmed the first fatality was a 20-year-old and announced a manhunt for suspects on the grounds of a family feud. The current dispatch – filed at 08:46 Jerusalem – corrects the victim's age to 19 and names him as Bakher Nasserat, while disclosing that Nasserat had been arrested in August 2025 on suspicion of involvement in the cousin's murder but was never indicted. The wounded man's identity remains withheld.
As The Zioneer reported on Sunday, Central District Commander Avi Adutah has assigned the investigation to the Sharon Subdistrict's Central Unit (YALP). A suspect in the murder is currently at large.
The exact circumstances that led to the exchange of fire remain unclear. No arrests have been announced, and police have not provided details on the suspect's identity or vehicle.
