As The Zioneer reported on Wednesday, the confirmed death toll from the floods stands at at least 919 — 903 in Nepal and 16 in China — with nearly 4,800 people listed as missing across both countries. The death toll climbed sharply over the course of the week from an initial 157 confirmed fatalities. Search and rescue operations continue, albeit hampered by damaged roads and communications in remote mountain areas.
The disaster, triggered by heavy monsoon rains, devastated communities on both sides of the Himalayan border. The Nepali government continues to coordinate international relief efforts.
