Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday mourned Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, Staff Sgt. Nir Ben Ari, Staff Sgt. Liav Kevavia and Staff Sgt. Naveh Havshoosh, saying the heart of the nation aches over their loss. The four were killed during operational activity in southern Lebanon; funerals for Klein and Havshoosh were held today.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday morning eulogized the four IDF soldiers whose names were cleared for publication after falling in combat in southern Lebanon. In a statement, Netanyahu described the fallen — Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, Staff Sgt. Nir Ben Ari, Staff Sgt. Liav Kevavia and Staff Sgt. Naveh Havshoosh — as among the best of the nation's sons who fought with courage and supreme bravery. He and his wife sent heartfelt condolences to the families.
The soldiers were killed during a complex operational incident in southern Lebanon, as The Zioneer reported earlier this week. On Friday, the IDF confirmed four troops fell, and President Isaac Herzog identified the 52nd Battalion commander among them. Of the four named Sunday by Netanyahu, two — Klein and Havshoosh — were laid to rest today in Herzliya and Jerusalem respectively, as The Zioneer reported in a 07:45 bulletin. Netanyahu's statement came as funerals were underway; the two remaining soldiers' funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
The prime minister affirmed that Israel will continue to do everything necessary to restore security to the northern residents. The incident has drawn a wave of public mourning, with multiple cabinet members and military officials issuing condolences throughout the weekend.
