Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein was a dedicated soldier in the IDF's Armored Corps, serving within the 52nd Battalion of the 401st 'Iron Tracks' Armored Brigade. A resident of Herzliya, Klein was 21 years old at the time of his death. He was killed in action on the night between Thursday and Friday, June 19, 2026, during a complex operational engagement in southern Lebanon.

Klein fell in the same incident that claimed the life of his battalion commander, Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, and two other soldiers. According to reports reviewed by The Zioneer Intelligence Desk, the incident occurred around 00:20 and involved a strike on an Israeli tank, likely by a Hezbollah explosive drone or anti-tank fire. This engagement took place as the 52nd Battalion was conducting strategic missions to dismantle Hezbollah's underground infrastructure and tunnel networks in the region.

His death was cleared for publication by the IDF Spokesperson on Saturday evening, June 20, 2026, alongside the name of Staff Sgt. Nir Ben Ari from the Maglan Unit, who fell in a separate incident. Klein’s service in the 401st Brigade placed him at the forefront of Israel's efforts to secure its northern border and neutralize the immediate threat posed by Hezbollah's elite Radwan forces and their fortified positions near the Israeli frontier. He is remembered as a committed fighter who served under senior command during one of the most significant ground maneuvers in the northern theater.
