A 55-year-old man was seriously injured with a head injury Thursday afternoon in a collision between two vehicles, one of which overturned, on Route 40 near the Yarkon Interchange, according to Magen David Adom (MDA). Medics evacuated him to Beilinson Hospital; several others were treated for minor injuries.
At 11:50 Jerusalem time Thursday, Magen David Adom (MDA) received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Route 40 near the Yarkon Interchange, with one vehicle overturned. MDA emergency medic Dror Klein said the overturned vehicle's driver, a 55-year-old man, was conscious but confused with a severe head injury. After extrication, medics evacuated him in stable but serious condition to Beilinson Hospital. Several additional individuals sustained minor injuries and were expected to be taken to the hospital shortly, Klein added.
As The Zioneer reported minutes earlier (12:27 Jerusalem), initial reports confirmed a serious injury in the same incident. The current update adds that the victim was the driver of the overturned car and provides details on several more lightly wounded. Other recent vehicle rollovers in central Israel, such as a moderate injury on Route 5 near Tikva Interchange on June 10, have generally involved single-vehicle overturns or two-car collisions without the added complication of one car flipping over with multiple casualties.
