At 18:40 Jerusalem on Thursday evening, N12 reported that paramedic Rafi Sheva of Magen David Adom described the advanced resuscitation that restored the heartbeat of a one-year-old infant who drowned in a home in Kadima Zoran. Sheva said chest compressions, ventilation, and medication brought the infant's heart back. She is now in serious stable condition, ventilated, and being evacuated to Meir Hospital.
The incident first came to light at 17:47 Jerusalem, when ynet reported that a baby girl was found critical after drowning at home, with her heart not beating. Moments later, at the same minute, ynet updated that her heart had resumed beating, though her condition remained critical. At 17:47, N12 followed with an upgrade to serious stable condition.
As The Zioneer reported earlier, MDA teams had been performing CPR on the scene. The infant's heart had initially not restarted.
The circumstances of the drowning remain under investigation. No further details on the cause have been released.
