Police have arrested several suspects in the grenade attacks on Japanika restaurant branches, and taken testimony from the chain's owner Barak Avramov and a member of the Musli crime family, according to Israel Hayom. The development, reported Tuesday evening, marks the latest step in an investigation that has accelerated over the past 24 hours.
The probe has progressed rapidly. Earlier Tuesday, at 06:46 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported that six fragmentation grenades were thrown at Japanika branches overnight, linked to a criminal feud between the Mosli and Jarushi families. Police sources later confirmed the attacks were aimed at pressuring Avramov, and warned of escalation. By 19:47 Jerusalem, police had taken testimony from Avramov and were questioning several suspects. Now, within hours, arrests have been made and a member of the Musli family has been questioned.
As The Zioneer reported on Tuesday, the attacks are part of an ongoing criminal feud. A police source told N12 that the grenade and shooting attacks are revenge for Avramov "choosing a side" in the underworld, and warned that if the wave is not stopped, "heads will roll." The chain has been repeatedly targeted across central Israel.
It remains unclear who the arrested suspects are, what charges they face, and whether the Musli family member questioned is a suspect or a witness. Police have not yet disclosed further details about the investigation.
