Tonight's initial report of a toddler falling from a height in Wadi Ara has been found to be false, with police now investigating the incident as a fatal hit-and-run. The 3-year-old boy died, and his father was arrested on suspicion of running him over while reversing a vehicle and providing a false account to authorities, according to Israeli media.
The Zioneer first reported the initial account at 20:28 Jerusalem, when Israeli media reported a fall from height. Within an hour, the story evolved: at 21:07 Jerusalem, reports indicated the child had been run over; moments later, a suspect was arrested; and then the suspect was identified as the boy's father, who allegedly gave a false story to police. N12 journalist Or Ravid reported that responders found the scene tampered with upon arrival, leading to the revised assessment.
The father was taken into police custody. The investigation, led by Israel Police, is ongoing. Further details have not been released.
