The incident was first reported by ynet at 21:07 Jerusalem as a fatal run-over in Wadi Ara. Shortly afterward, police arrested a suspect, later identified as the child's father, on suspicion of hit-and-run. Subsequent reports from N12's Or Ravid revealed that the father initially gave a false account to authorities, claiming the child had fallen from a height. Police who arrived at the scene found indications of tampering and now suspect the toddler was accidentally struck by a vehicle driven by the father. The father was arrested on suspicion of tampering with evidence.
As The Zioneer reported earlier, the toddler was evacuated in critical condition to Hillel Yaffe Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
It remains unclear whether formal charges will be filed against the father, and the case continues to be investigated by police.
