01 · THE DISPATCH

Leaders of the left-wing Makom Lekulanu party staged a protest this morning outside the home of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in Jerusalem, placing photographs of victims of murder in Arab communities to highlight what they describe as the government's failure to curb violence. Police officers present at the scene dispersed the demonstrators, N12 reported.

The protest comes amid a broader political battle over crime in Arab society: earlier this month opposition MK Efrat Rayten (Democrats) called on the attorney general and police commissioner to act against Ben-Gvir's alleged use of uniformed police for election videos. In a separate incident, Democrats leader Yair Golan accused Ben-Gvir of encouraging police violence against hostage deal protesters while showing restraint when the crowd has political immunity, as The Zioneer reported on June 17.

No arrests were reported at today's protest. Ben-Gvir's office has not yet commented.
