A public safety alert was sent to citizens of Qatar early Friday morning, according to reports. The alert comes amid a series of security measures in the Gulf state, including earlier siren activations.
A public safety alert was sent to citizens of Qatar early Friday (05:45 Jerusalem), according to reports. The alert comes minutes after The Zioneer reported sirens in Qatar at the same hour, and follows a night of escalating security developments in the Gulf state.
On Thursday evening (21:32 Jerusalem), The Zioneer published a series of reports: a map detailing confirmed and unconfirmed Iranian strike impacts on US-linked bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq; a single unverified report of Iranian strikes on Kuwait, Jordan, and Qatar; a subsequent report confirming Iranian strikes on Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait; and finally, unconfirmed reports of sirens in Qatar. The cause of those sirens remained unknown.
Earlier background, as The Zioneer reported, includes Qatar's Interior Ministry ordering residents to stay home and raising the security threat level on July 9, declaring the threat level high on July 12, reporting a citizen killed by shrapnel from an interception on June 29, and suspending all maritime activity indefinitely on June 29. Saudi Arabia also issued an urgent alert to citizens and residents across the Middle East on July 12.
The origin and specific instructions of the current public safety alert are not yet known. The cause of the earlier sirens and the full scope of the reported Iranian strikes also remain unconfirmed.
