The investigation also uncovered a drug distribution network to IDF bases linked to the weapon buyer.
An IDF reservist (NCO) and a civilian, Adham Ben Ahmed Sa'adia, were indicted Monday by the Northern District Prosecutor's Office for stealing an M16 rifle from a military base in the north and selling it to Sa'adia, a known criminal, according to N12 and other Israeli media. The joint police and Military Police investigation revealed that the reservist, a 30-year-old NCO, stole the weapon from a fellow soldier at a base in the north and handed it over to Sa'adia at a gas station.
The probe also uncovered a drug distribution network to IDF bases, allegedly operated by Sa'adia and his partner, and revealed that the reservist's brother, a major in the IDF, sold his medical cannabis to one of the defendants. A separate indictment is expected against the brother.
