Saudi Arabia has launched a large-scale military operation in Yemen, deploying 100 fighter jets, according to The Zioneer. No details on targets or Houthi casualties are yet available.
Saudi Arabia has escalated its military campaign in Yemen, deploying 100 fighter jets in a major ongoing operation, according to Saudi statements. Saudi sources said around 13:45 Jerusalem that the air force had struck Houthi targets using 100 fighter jets. The kingdom has been preparing for a large-scale campaign in recent weeks.
The strikes intensified throughout the afternoon. At 15:17 Jerusalem, reports indicated Saudi airstrikes in the capital Sanaa. By 15:36, Saudi sources reported that 130 Houthi terror targets had been hit across Yemen, with over 200 Houthi operatives reportedly killed. The Zioneer reported those figures at 15:36 today.
The operation follows weeks of heightened tensions and Saudi planning. As The Zioneer reported on Oct. 2, Saudi Arabia formally approved plans for a major operation against the Iran-backed Houthi movement and requested US airstrike support. Washington has indicated it will not participate in direct strikes at this stage.
The reported casualty figures have not been independently verified. It remains unclear whether the operation is still ongoing or has concluded, and what role, if any, the United States is playing.
