Securityist Movement slams emerging US-Iran MOU as 'illogical strategic shift'

TL;DR

The Securityist Movement, a right-of-center Israeli security advocacy group, sharply criticized the expected US-Iran memorandum of understanding ahead of its planned Friday signing. Movement chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Erez Wiener, called the draft 'a problematic, illogical document' that marks a retreat from the 'peace through strength' strategy, strengthens the 'axis of resistance,' and undermines President Trump's ability to advance the Abraham Accords and compete with China and Russia.

01 · THE DISPATCH

The Securityist Movement — a right-of-center advocacy group focused on Israeli national security and sovereignty — issued a statement Wednesday evening condemning the emerging US-Iran memorandum of understanding, whose draft was published by Iranian media earlier in the day. The signing is expected on Friday, according to US Vice President JD Vance.

Movement chairman retired Brig. Gen. Erez Wiener said the MOU marks 'a fundamental shift in the management of the 'peace through strength' strategy — a retreat that weakens the American position,' and asserted it would 'strengthen the axis of evil in a meaningful way.' Wiener argued the MOU would also damage the Abraham Accords expansion and the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC) initiative.

The statement is the latest Israeli criticism of the framework, which The Zioneer reported earlier Wednesday has been signed according to Amichai Stein (i24NEWS). A senior Israeli official previously dismissed the MOU as a non-binding 'bluff', while other officials called it a 'historic mistake.' Vice President Vance defended the emerging deal Wednesday, saying it is 'good for the American people' and will be published by Friday. An unverified Arab report from earlier Wednesday that Iran had canceled the Friday signing over Israeli strikes in Lebanon was not confirmed.
