TL;DR

Shrapnel from an attack on the Iranian port city of Chabahar struck the Imam Ali Hospital, according to reports. Details on the nature of the attack and casualties are not yet available.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Just after 23:47 Jerusalem on Wednesday, reports emerged that shrapnel from an attack on the Iranian port city of Chabahar struck the Imam Ali Hospital. This follows a series of reports from the same hour about explosions in Chabahar, as well as attacks near and on the Bushehr nuclear reactor. The hospital hit is the first report of a civilian infrastructure being directly affected.

The thread of reports began at 23:47 Jerusalem with a Channel 14 report of strikes on Kharg Island and the area near the Bushehr reactor. Within the same minute, security analyst Yair Goldblatt claimed that the strikes actually hit the reactor itself. Iranian sources then claimed a second attack on the reactor site, followed by additional explosions reported in Bushehr and then in Chabahar port. All reports have been based on a single source or analyst, and none have been independently verified. The new hospital report similarly comes from a single, unverified account.

The Zioneer has previously reported on the targeting of medical facilities in conflict zones, such as the al-Nasr hospital in Khan Younis receiving wounded on June 19. The strike on Imam Ali Hospital in Chabahar, if confirmed, would mark a significant escalation in the current round of attacks on Iranian infrastructure.

Several key questions remain open: the nature of the attack on Chabahar — whether it was an airstrike, missile, or other — remains unclear. The extent of damage to the hospital and any casualties have not been specified. The claims of direct hits on the Bushehr nuclear reactor also remain unverified and denied by Iranian authorities. The Zioneer continues to monitor the situation.
