Olga, the younger sister of Staff Sgt. (res.) Alexander Filin, who fell in Lebanon, eulogized her brother in a post on social media, as reported by N12. She said Filin gave her a sense of security and promised to keep his memory alive.
Staff Sgt. (res.) Alexander Filin, 29, fell in southern Lebanon earlier this week in a battle involving the 36th Division headquarters, when a Hezbollah IED detonated. His funeral was held Sunday at the military cemetery in Haifa, as The Zioneer reported earlier today.
In a eulogy published on social media, his younger sister Olga wrote: "I always knew you'd be there for me. You gave me a sense of security — you knew how to listen, understand, and help. I promise to keep your memory alive. I love you, my big and beloved brother." The post was cited by N12.
Filin, a lone immigrant, had been named a presidential standout during his IDF service, and earlier in his life had helped foil a terror attack. His family had called on the public to attend the funeral due to sparse expected turnout, as many of his comrades remained on active duty.
