Religious Zionism chairman and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the expulsion of MK Moshe Solomon from all Knesset committees representing the party, following Solomon's vote against the party line on the Torah Study bill. Smotrich stated that although the bill was amended per the party's demand, Solomon chose to act on his own, did not inform colleagues of his intention to vote against, and surprised them with his conduct, severely damaging their trust. Earlier on Wednesday, Solomon had said he would remain in the party despite the expected disciplinary steps, as The Zioneer reported. The Torah Study bill, which seeks to extend yeshiva student draft deferrals, cleaves through the coalition, with Religious Zionism demanding a stricter version than the one supported by parts of Likud and ultra-Orthodox parties.
