When the victim woke up and confronted him, Ben Hamo allegedly claimed another person had rented him the house and asked, 'Who are you? This is my house.'

According to the charge sheet, the victim awoke from her sleep to find the suspect rummaging through her bedroom closets. She caught him holding a coin savings box. Ben Hamo's alleged response—claiming a third party had rented him the house and demanding to know who she was—has been described as an unusual attempt to deflect blame.
