01 · THE DISPATCH

On Friday, the three heads of Iran's government branches — President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i, and Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf — paid their respects to the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to reports. The gesture of unity comes a day after the funeral ceremonies began in Tehran on Thursday, as the regime consolidates around the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The Zioneer reported on Thursday (Jul 2) that the funeral ceremonies for Khamenei, who was eliminated in February, began at the Musalla compound in Tehran. IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi, who had been underground since February's Operation Roaring Lion, appeared publicly for the first time, attending the funeral. All senior regime officials, including the three heads, were present in the front row, according to a Persian-language source. Earlier on Thursday, Vahidi had met with President Pezeshkian and Speaker Ghalibaf to discuss funeral preparations, as reported by a Telegram post.

As The Zioneer reported on Wednesday, July 1, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei reappointed Mohseni-Eje'i as judiciary chief, contradicting earlier reports of a potential replacement. President Pezeshkian has also stated that the government is subordinate to the new Supreme Leader's position on negotiations, as reported on Wednesday, July 1.

The reports of the three officials paying respects remain based on a limited number of sources, and it is unclear whether the gesture signals a permanent consolidation of power or a temporary display of unity during the transition. The regime's internal dynamics continue to evolve.
