01 · THE DISPATCH

The Samaria Regional Council reported that a Torah scroll, begun 27 years ago by the late Nechemya Perlman, has been brought to the new yeshiva on Mount Ebal — fulfilling a dream that Perlman cherished. The ceremony, held Thursday evening, included Perlman's family and regional officials. Council head Yossi Dagan, a close friend, said: 'Nechemya instilled in all of us, and in me personally, the importance of establishing a settlement on Mount Ebal, and dedicated his life to the place. I am sure he is smiling with happiness from above.' The yeshiva, recently established, marks a new chapter of Jewish presence on the site, which holds biblical significance as the location of Joshua's altar.
