Miriam Shani, whose husband Captain Uri Mordechai Shani was killed fighting Hamas at the Kissufim outpost on October 7, married Ofek — Uri's former commander in the Egoz Unit — on Wednesday evening. Ofek said under the chuppah that Uri 'is with us at every stage,' calling their marriage 'a second floor built on deep foundations.'
Miriam Shani, the widow of Captain Uri Mordechai Shani — a Golani Brigade officer in the 51st Battalion who fell battling Hamas terrorists at the Kissufim outpost on October 7, 2023 — remarried Wednesday evening. Her new husband, Ofek, served as Uri's commander during his training in the IDF's Egoz commando unit.
Under the wedding canopy, Ofek spoke about Uri's continued presence in their home: 'Uri is with us at every stage.' He described their marriage as 'a second floor built on deep foundations,' thanking Uri for 'the first floor.'
As The Zioneer reported earlier Wednesday, journalist Yedidya Meir presided over the ceremony, and Uri's father Yehoshua Shani — founder of the 'Gevura Forum' for bereaved families — blessed the new couple under the canopy. Miriam and Uri had a baby son, Roi, who was born before Uri's death.
