On Wednesday, August 12, The Zioneer first reported that the investigation had shifted from an abduction scenario to a theory of planned departure, after evidence emerged that the pair had withdrawn approximately €14,000 in cash and deliberately deleted location data from their devices. On Friday, August 14, at 19:01 Jerusalem, the Israel Police confirmed that Mali and Liel had been located alive in South America. Later that evening, police sources stated that the women told officers they wanted to "disconnect from their family and from Israel." The newly recovered correspondence now adds personal corroboration of their intent.
As The Zioneer previously reported, the escape route was planned using artificial intelligence, and investigators believe Mali flew abroad beforehand to scout the terrain. Their journey was tracked from Vienna to Prague, then to Germany, and onward to Argentina.
