Ali Samir Al-Haj Hassan served as a senior field commander within the Radwan Force, Hezbollah's elite commando unit designed for offensive incursions into Israeli territory. As a battalion commander, Hassan was responsible for overseeing operational activities and maintaining command-and-control infrastructure in southern Lebanon, specifically within the Ansar region. His role was central to Hezbollah's tactical posture against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) along the northern border.
In August 2026, the IDF targeted a central Radwan Force headquarters in the Ansar area where Hassan was located. The strike resulted in the elimination of Hassan and several other terror operatives present at the facility. According to military reports, the operation targeted a high-value military asset used for planning and executing attacks against Israel. The IDF noted that Hassan’s family members were present at the headquarters during the strike and were harmed; however, the military clarified that they were not the intended targets and that Hassan had utilized the facility—and by extension, his family—as human shields to protect military operations. This incident underscores the ongoing security challenge posed by Hezbollah's integration of military infrastructure within civilian environments and the IDF's commitment to dismantling the leadership of the Radwan Force to ensure the safety of Israel's northern communities.
