Reserve Staff Sergeant Haim Klumiti was a 55-year-old resident of Tzur Natan, a community in the Sharon region near the Green Line. A veteran reservist, Klumiti served as a territorial defense fighter in Battalion 8881 of the Ephraim Brigade. This unit is tasked with the protection of communities along Israel's 'seam zone,' the sensitive corridor adjacent to the pre-1967 armistice boundary. Beyond his formal military service, Klumiti was an active member of Tzur Natan's kitat konenut—the community's volunteer emergency response team. These teams consist of trained residents who serve as the first line of defense, providing a rapid-reaction force to protect their neighbors and families during security incidents before regular IDF or police units can arrive on the scene. On June 7, 2026, Klumiti was killed while responding to a multi-site 'rolling' terror attack that struck the Sharon region, including the community of Kochav Yair. The attack also left the Tzur Natan security coordinator (Rabash) critically wounded. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir eulogized Klumiti, with Ben Gvir noting that Klumiti's brave actions prevented a much larger disaster. His death highlights the critical role of the kitat konenut in Israel's national resilience, particularly in communities located along sensitive security borders. He is remembered as a neighbor who chose to stand on the front lines of his community's defense.
