Omer Monder Yassin was a 21-year-old Israeli citizen and resident of the Arab city of Taibeh. On June 7, 2026, Yassin launched a coordinated terror spree across several locations in the Sharon region, including Kochav Yair, Tzur Yitzhak, and Sela'it. Armed with a Carlo-type submachine gun, he targeted civilians and security personnel near the seam line. During the attack, he killed 55-year-old Haim Kalomiti, a resident of Tzur Natan and a member of the local emergency response team (kitat konenut), and wounded several others. Yassin was eventually neutralized and killed by officers from the Taibeh police station following a brief pursuit. Subsequent investigations by the Shin Bet and Israel Police revealed a support network that facilitated the attack. In July 2026, indictments were filed against three other Israeli citizens—Muhamad Aftima, Alaa Eddin Jeheim, and Wam Mazarwa—for allegedly supplying the weapon and failing to report Yassin's known intentions to carry out the massacre. The case highlights the persistent threat of internal radicalization and the role of illegal firearms in domestic terror.
