Rachel Crossing is a major security terminal located on the southern edge of Jerusalem, serving as the primary transit point between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
Rachel Crossing, often referred to as Checkpost 300 or the Gilo Crossing, is a critical security infrastructure point located between southern Jerusalem and the city of Bethlehem in Judea. Named after the nearby Tomb of Rachel (Kever Rachel), the crossing is a primary artery for the movement of Palestinian workers, tourists, and humanitarian cases into Israel, as well as a focal point for security operations in the Jerusalem Envelope sector. The crossing is managed by the Crossings Authority of the Ministry of Defense in coordination with the Israel Police and Border Police (Magav).
Due to its strategic location and high volume of daily traffic, Rachel Crossing is a frequent target for friction and attempted security breaches.
