Shani Louk

Shani Louk was a young tattoo artist and dual German-Israeli national who was attending the Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Re'im when Hamas terrorists launched their multi-pronged invasion of southern Israel on October 7, 2023. In the hours following the attack, a video emerged showing Louk’s unconscious and partially unclothed body in the back of a pickup truck being paraded through the streets of Gaza by armed operatives. The footage, which drew international condemnation for its brutality, initially left her fate uncertain, though her family later received confirmation of her death after Israeli forensic experts identified a bone fragment from her skull.

Louk’s death was officially confirmed by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in late October 2023. In May 2024, the IDF recovered her body from Gaza during a specialized military operation, alongside the remains of other hostages.
