Ten residents of Elad in their 20s, who earlier entered the West Bank city of Qalqilya in an attempt to locate a stolen motorcycle, are now being held at the Ariel police station for questioning under caution, according to reports.
Ten residents of Elad who were rescued from Qalqilya earlier this evening are now being held at the Ariel police station for questioning under caution, according to a new report. The development comes roughly an hour and a half after the group was extracted by Border Police and IDF forces from the West Bank city.
The Zioneer reported at 21:56 Jerusalem that Border Police and Civil Administration forces rescued the 10 Israelis after they entered Qalqilya to retrieve a motorcycle stolen from Elad. Reports initially described the group being surrounded by dozens of locals, with one individual refusing to leave without the motorcycle. The rescue was completed without casualties. Over the course of the evening, The Zioneer published eight updates on the incident, including details that one of the rescued individuals was involved in a similar incident days earlier and was known to security forces.
The Zioneer has previously reported on the risks of unauthorized entry into Area A, which is illegal under Israeli law. The IDF earlier warned that entry into the area is dangerous and prohibited.
It remains unclear what specific allegations the 10 individuals face, or whether any charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing.
