TL;DR

The deputy commander of the IDF's 36th Division was moderately wounded by an explosive device while operating on the ground in the Litani area of southern Lebanon, according to a military source. Three other soldiers and a female soldier were also wounded in the same incident. The event follows a similar explosion hours earlier that killed Staff Sgt. (res.) Alexander Filin and wounded a colonel and six others.

01 · THE DISPATCH

A second explosive-device incident in the Litani area of southern Lebanon has wounded the deputy commander of the IDF's 36th Division (colonel) moderately, along with three other male soldiers and one female soldier, The Zioneer has learned from a military source.

The blast occurred around 06:00 Thursday, roughly an hour after a similar explosion at about 05:00 that killed Staff Sgt. (res.) Alexander Filin, 29, and wounded seven others — including the same colonel now hurt in the second incident, as The Zioneer first reported at 06:05 and updated at 06:20. In the first incident, the IDF attributed the explosion to a Hezbollah-placed device and responded with artillery strikes on terror infrastructure. An earlier, separate explosive-device event on Wednesday around 17:00 in the same area had also wounded a 36th Division officer and a reserve battalion commander, both moderately, as The Zioneer reported at 06:00 Thursday.

The IDF has not yet stated whether the four wounded in the second blast are in addition to the earlier casualties or overlap with them. The Litani area remains an active combat zone as operations against Hezbollah infrastructure persist, with at least three explosive-device incidents recorded in the sector within roughly 13 hours.

The circumstances of the second device placement and whether it was also enemy-placed remain under inquiry; no group has claimed responsibility.
