Journalist Barak Ravid reports that air defense systems were activated around the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran. The reason for the activation is not yet known.
Late Tuesday evening, journalist Barak Ravid reported that Iranian air defense systems were activated near the Bushehr nuclear power plant. The report follows a sequence of explosions and air defense activations across southern Iran that The Zioneer has been tracking since 18:46 Jerusalem yesterday.
At 18:46 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported explosions at Vahdati Air Base in Dezful, with local accounts describing columns of smoke. Minutes later, additional explosions were reported in the city of Dezful by security analyst Yair Goldblatt, and ynet reported explosions in southern Iran citing local sources. At the same time, a security analyst reported explosions in the city of Bushehr. At 19:20 Jerusalem, air defense systems were reported activated in Andimeshk, Khuzestan, as The Zioneer noted.
The Zioneer has previously documented a series of air defense alerts across Iran over recent weeks, including in Yazd, Isfahan, Qom, Tehran, and Andimeshk, amid ongoing US strikes. The Bushehr nuclear facility is a strategic site, and any security activity there draws heightened attention.
The cause of the air defense activation at Bushehr remains unclear, and no casualties or damage have been reported. No specific threat has been confirmed.
