Bereaved families of the October 7 massacre are leading a march through Tel Aviv on Thursday evening, the 1,000th day since the attack, with thousands joining to demand government accountability. The march is one of dozens of nationwide events, according to i24 and N12.
The march, which began at the Savidor train station earlier Thursday evening, has now reached central Tel Aviv with bereaved families leading the procession. Thousands of participants are calling for a state commission of inquiry into the failures that led to the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led massacre, as well as accountability for the government's handling of the war and hostage crisis that followed.
As The Zioneer reported at 19:30 Jerusalem, the march earlier arrived at Hostage Square. Thursday has seen a series of rallies and memorial events nationwide, including protests outside the home of Education Minister Yoav Kisch and a demonstration at the Kfar Yehoshua Bridge. The October Council, a civil society group, led a 'Day of a Thousand' of memorial events under the slogan 'We will not forget and we will not forgive.'
What remains open is whether the government will respond to the growing calls for a state inquiry. The protests have been largely peaceful, with police maintaining a presence but no major incidents reported.
