The development came on the same day the Beersheba Magistrate's Court ordered a similar six-day extension for another friend, Maxim Broverman, as The Zioneer reported earlier today.
As The Zioneer reported on Monday, July 27, at 10:19 Jerusalem, Dayan's vehicle was found abandoned in Petah Tikva, and two of his friends were arrested. Police have since said they suspect the friends of obstructing the investigation and have evidence that Broverman was the driver in a hit-and-run accident in which Dayan may have been involved. The initial police appeal for public information on the disappearance was also issued on Monday.
Later that day, Dayan's mother was quoted saying 'whoever needs to pay will pay,' as the investigation intensified. The court's extension of Broverman's arrest, reported earlier today, marked the first judicial step in the case. The latest extension for Peretz follows the same pattern.
Eldar Dayan remains missing. It is not yet clear what role, if any, Omri Peretz is suspected of playing in the case. The circumstances of the alleged hit-and-run incident and Dayan's involvement remain under investigation.
